New Year Nail Polish

Caress Frosted Nail Polish in Christmas Polka and Jocarste Nail Polish in 100.

These were worth below forty pesos. I’ve been gravitating towards purple polish lately. Who knew red and purple look great together? The Jocarste glitter polish was the last one at the Shawill booth in SM North. Lucky!

Yep, you read right. Shawill, again! haha

I used these two Orly polishes from my boyfriend’s Mom as base.

And these were the glittery results! Happiness!

What’s great about glitter polish is that you don’t need precision. Glitter polish is best applied in dabbing motions instead of the usual sweep over the nail. Put on two coats of “Top Coat” to ensure less chipping.

Mini Nail Polish Haul!

It’s best to build up the basics in nail polish like whites and other neutral shades. The green nail polish was just too pretty to resist! Careline nail polishes were on sale at Php 10.00 each! Bobbie and Caress were Php 30.00+ and Php 20.00+.

Can you tell that this collection is going to get bigger this year? haha Looking at nice nails never fail to put a smile on my face. Also, it’s a subtle way to express yourself! Good vibes for the start of the year!

Saizen: Everything You Never Thought You Needed

I have been hearing about another store that has been making trends on the Twitter world lately and oh-em-gee I just had to check it out!

Saizen is another shopaholic’s dream. Who doesn’t love Japanese stores like Saizen? You could spend hours just browsing through the little knick-knacks trying to figure out what they were for. From food, kitchen tools, gardening tools, cosmetics, bath products, clothing, pet essentials and toys, your whole family will enjoy a visit to Saizen!

Let me share the things I bought:

WET LASHES WITH MASCARA: (I splashed my whole face with water to test out the waterproof properties of the mascara.)

How much is Shawill Curling Mascara?

Php 188.00! There was also a smaller tube of this for about Php 144.00. Available at all leading department stores!

What I like about Shawill Curling Mascara:

The affordable price!
No strong smell.
Sleek black packaging. I like that it came with instructions!
Volumizes averagely. As you can see in my photos above, one coat of mascara gives my lashes enough volume for a natural, daytime look.
Waterproof enough. I like that I don’t get raccoon eyes when I splashed my face with water.

What I don’t like about Shawill Curling Mascara:

Clumps if not applied evenly. Definitely not for hurried makeup!
Doesn’t dry quickly.
When I tested out its waterproof qualities, there were some fall outs.
Smudges if rubbed hard enough.
Didn’t curl my lashes. Probably because it’s meant to make already curled lashes stay up longer.

What do you think of Shawill’s Curling Mascara? I think you get what you pay for. This is a good mascara for those just starting out with makeup with a budget! What’s your favorite mascara? Please let me know in your comments! :)

I couldn’t photograph my whole face because of my messy hair. haha Also, as much as I wanted to do green eyes-red lips combo, I wasn’t mentally prepared for striking color on my face. Gold and brown are neutral colors so it’s a subtle festive look.

Marionaud Pointed Eyeshadow Brush Php 89.75

We all know that Marionnaud is amazing. I wanted to try ELF’s version of this but the brand new ones already had fall outs. Not worth it. I’m glad I found this at SM Megamall’s Department Store!

Shawill Professional Makeup Brush Php 228.00

I am now obsessed with Shawill’s makeup tools! They have such high quality and incredibly soft brushes! I was debating on whether to get this or the Marionnaud one (Php 249.00 with a longer handle and a denser build) but this was more portable. I tried tugging on the brush randomly and there were no fall outs. This is about 3 to 4 inches long. Shawill is found at SM Department Store.

NYX Round Lipstick in Fig Php 140.00

I dropped by a NYX stall at SM Megatrade Hall 1 earlier and bought this along with another lippy! I love how moisturizing and pigmented it is. It makes you look girly! *u*

NYX Round Lipstick in Tea Rose Php 140.00

This is lighter than Fig. I thought I made a mistake by buying another pink lipstick (similar to Fig in the tube) but Tea Rose is actually more natural. Can I have more NYX lipsticks please? *u* I want NYX Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red, Audrey and Whipped Caviar!!!

I am currently reading this adorable comic called Cucumber Quest!

When I picked up my prices from the Peachypink Sisters at HBC Glorietta, I also purchased San San’s Soleil Lipstick in Peach Ibiza.

I was not wearing lip balm, lip liner nor lip gloss in these pictures.

What I like about Peach Ibiza:

It was on sale at HBC for Php50.00! What a steal!
Gorgeous, natural-looking lipstick for everyday.
Smells like marshmallows. *u*
Brightens the face in an instant!

What I don’t like about Peach Ibiza:

It doesn’t last very long.
Moisturizing effect not enough for my sensitive, chappy lips.

There are two other shades from San San’s Soleil Lipstick Collection namely: Nude Carribean and Pink Tropics. I’m definitely going back for the Nude Carribean soon!

On another note, I have my planner for 2012! I love how this is small enough to fit my bag but big enough for my doodles. That pink clip is actually a pen as well! How cool and quirky! I got these at Landmark Trinoma.

I love that it’s an all-in-one palette. This is great for on-the-go makeup application! I will be doing makeup looks for you using this palette as well so watch out for that!

EVER BILENA MATTE LIPSTICK in PINK FLAME Php 120.00

Janine, the saleslady, gave me a discount because I showed to her the lipstick I was wearing that day. I think Ever Bilena is surveying for new lipstick colors. I would love to see a new collection from EB soon! My purchase went down from Php 145.00 to Php 120.00. Great deal! This is also my first matte lipstick.

ELF EYELID PRIMER Php 129.00

I know that some beauty gurus don’t recommend this but I’d want to see this primer’s performance for myself. My review on this product will come out soon!

MARIONNAUD EYEBROW BRUSH AND SPOOLY Php 59.75

This is my first eyebrow brush and I will use this with the eyebrow cream from the ELF Beauty Purse. I hope my brows will be better looking from now on!

WATSONS RETRACTABLE LIP BRUSH Php 69.00

This brush will be quite handy since I like using a lip brush instead of using my fingers or directly applying from the lipstick tube. Pretty soft brush! Good buy!

SHAWILL EYELASH CURLER Php 49.00

The packaging from Shawill’s products are very eye-catching. As you can see, this eyelash curler has a fun holographic packaging! I love that the curler is very sturdy and it had refills. You should check out Shawill! They have a great line of beauty products! I’m still amazed by how soft their kabuki brushes were! (Kabuki brush at Php 188.00, I think)

JOY FASHION BRUSH Php 119.00

I have been looking for a brush like this for ages and I found one at Shangri-la Rustan’s! It has the regular rounded plastic brush bristles but what’s so special about this is that it has boar bristles as well. I love how this feels against my scalp! The boar bristles distribute the hair’s natural oils while the round tips massage my scalp.

PAGANINI FOAM HAIR CURLERS Php 64.75

I bought this together with the brush and I thought I could finally curl my hair without damaging it! Trying this one now as I type! Reviewing soon!

KOREAN FLAT SHOES Php 200.00

Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol

One thing I truly love is meeting new people and I did just that yesterday when I accompanied Krissy of krissyfied.com to the premiere of Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol at Glorietta 4.

It was my first time in a movie premiere and the experience was awesome. Great movie, great people and great food. This is what the ticket looked like:

It was also sponsored by Coca Cola Philippines. They gave out Coke Zero to the audience. I had two cans.

Bubblegum is a pretty pink shade. Strawberry Shake is red with blue undertones. Milk Chocolate is a peach lip color.

Looks natural when applied with a finger.

What I don’t like about Handy Candy:

Stains my finger.

Milk tea has become very popular. With all the milk tea cafe’s popping out of nowhere in every city, it’s evident how people crave it. Some even drive all the way through traffic for their milk tea fix.

Personally, I haven’t tried going to Moonleaf, Happy Lemon or Gong Cha because of how popular it’s become. I dread crowds and joining the milk tea bandwagon. There’s a Simple Life, Simple Line and a Happy Fanshu at UST, my old college, but they are the only milk tea places I’ve visited.

So what’s a girl to do for her milk tea fix? Buy instant milk tea at the supermarket! I just bought two boxes Lipton’s Original Instant Milk Tea at SM Megamall for Php 44.50. There are five sachets for every box. That’s Php9.00 for a cup of hot milk tea, perfect for rainy days!

Bath time for me is leisure time. It’s the time of day, I truly relax and take care of my body. I use this A Bonne Spa Yogurt Salt to whiten, smoothen and exfoliate my body.

How to use:

Gently massage the salt onto wet skin in circular motions.
Leave on for two minutes
Rinse.

What I like about this:

Relaxing lavender smell.
Leaves my skin super soft and smooth.
Will last me a long time since there’s a lot of product.

What I don’t like about this:

The packaging makes it very slippery.
When you pour the salt into your hand, it’s difficult to control how much comes out.

Shine Moist Henna Wax Color Treatment in Chocolate Brown Review

Coloring or dyeing the hair is damaging. This is why I stick to Henna Waxes like this one from Shine Moist. Shine Moist Henna Wax is a cellophane treatment that moisturizes hair and leaves a tint of color.

My hair BEFORE applying Shine Moist:

It’s been two months since I last used this Shine Moist Henna Wax so it’s back to black. (Meaning: I’ve already used this product!) My shoulder-length hair is thick and wavy. Haven’t done any chemical treatments to it in years. I’m trying to grow it super long! These pictures were taken by the window during the day.

For some reason, when I turn up some of my hair, it turns brown. My hair must be thinner on some parts of my head. Baby hair!

How to use Shine Moist Henna Wax? (product instructions)

Shampoo and towel dry hair until 75% dry.
Apply Color Treatment beginning 3mm from scalp and comb through the hair thoroughly.
Keep hair moistened and heated with a steamer or heater for 30 mins.
Allow hair to cool for 5 mins. before rinsing thoroughly until the water runs clear.
Squeeze out excess water and apply conditioning. Rinse and leave it in the hair for at least 1 minute.
Rinse thoroughly with water, blow dry and style.

How I do it: (follow at your own risk! haha)

IMPORTANT: Use disposable plastic gloves when applying the Henna Wax! Avoid getting the treatment on your skin or clothing, it stains! Use an old towel!

I do numbers 1 and 2 as instructed. Since I don’t have a steamer or a heater, I just leave the treatment on for half an hour while keeping it moist by spraying water on it every 5 to 10 minutes. You will notice your hair will become stiff if you don’t keep it moist.Then I rinse, apply conditioner and rinse again until the water becomes clear. (Agh, my back became sore after rinsing so long! I wish I sat down. haha) Finally, I air dry my hair.

My hair AFTER applying Shine Moist:

I did not wash my hair to let the treatment settle into my hair more. It’s a bit dry because I ran errands in the morning. Commuting really takes a toll on my hair! It feels super soft when I comb my hand through it, though. As you can see, my hair’s not as bouncy as before. The treatment added weight to my hair.

The lighting from the “before” photos was brighter! No sun today, darn rain! There is little color difference but I have more manageable hair.

What I like about Shine Moist Henna Wax:

Inexpensive DIY Hair treatment.
Made my hair shiny with a hint of brown color.
Salon smell! haha

What I don’t like about Shine Moist Henna Wax:

Very messy application. It would be better if salon professionals do it for you.
It took me an hour to evenly coat my shoulder-length hair. Maybe, it was because I was obsessive compulsive. haha If you have longer hair, I suggest you ask for help.
My hair stained my towel even after I rinsed until the water became clear.
Washes off after every shampoo. Lasts for two weeks only.
